Languages/Literatures: Chair, Modern Languages and Classics.
The newly formed department offers graduate programs in German
and in Romance Languages, and undergraduate majors in Classical
Studies, French, German, Greek, Latin, Russian, and Spanish, and
minors in Chinese, Italian, and Japanese. Our self-instructional
language program offers study in an additional 19 languages. The
department supports interdisciplinary Eastern European, Latin
American, and Asian Studies programs, and maintains links with
numerous foreign universities. A new multi-media language
resource center opens in Fall 1998. Candidates for the Chair
position should hold the Ph.D. or equivalent, in one of the
languages/literatures offered in the department, or in
comparative literature, or linguistics. Candidates must
demonstrate administrative experience and a solid scholarly
record for appointment with tenure at the Professor or Associate
Professor level. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
