This course aims to prepare students to develop a professional
website from scratch and place it on a server. The course will
include an underlying scenario in which students emulate being
employed to create a site for a company new to the Internet,
to place that site on the web,and to promote it through the web.
Students will be assumed to have basic Internet skills consistent
with having completed U123 Introduction to the Internet,
[see http://learn.ouhk.edu.hk/~u123/].
This 10-credit, middle level course will be delivered in the
distance education mode via printed materials and the Internet,
including an extensive course website. Topics to be covered
include basic tools (writing HTML, CGI, Java and incorporating
multimedia); page development; site creation; establishing a
server, site promotion, site security & maintenance.

Applicants should possess:

o higher degrees in Computer Science,
Information Engineering, or related disciplines;
o relevant professional experience in Website
deployment and promotion;
o the ability to communicate effectively in
written English;
o evidence of previous experience in website design
(URLs for current work should be provided); and
o the ability to develop a course web site,and
integrate its use with printed course materials.
Experience in course development in the same or related
disciplines is preferred, although guidance in course
design and the development of learner centered materials
will be provided for appointed candidates.
