is there any value in focusing on structural deviations from the normal(
so
called)spine?
This focus may reinforce a patients belief, that anatomical or
structural
deformities, are the causative factor in their current state of
disability-impairment, due to low back pain.
My understanding is that around 80% of mechanical low back pain is of
"Non-specific" in nature.
There is still some difficulty in relating changes noted in imaging
tests, to being a causative factor in a persons current state of
disability-impairment.
Much evidence seems to be to the contrary.
Well worth reading, to aid in helping your'e patients.
Stucture-oriented beliefs and disability due to back pain,Australian
Physiotherapy Journal. vol 44,no 1, 1998.
kind regards
