To confirm and add to what Bella had, I note in the Manual of the
Writings in Middle English (2: 593, so here V [139], the bibliography)
James the Martyr, Intercisus (Nov. 27, ca 421) is in the South English
Legendary as Index #2916, in the 1438 Gilte Legende, and in Caxton's Gilte
Legende (ch. 217; vol. 7 p. 34 of the Temple edition = F.S. Ellis's The
Golden Legend of Lives of the Saints as Englished by Wm Caxton [London,
1900]).
Manfred Go"rlach's Textual Tradition of the South English
Legendary (Leeds, 1974; p. 208) notes that the Legenda Aurea text occurs
as index # 4101 in Bibliotheca hagiographica latina antiquae et mediae
aetatis (Bruxelles, 1898-1911).
