Dear list members,
I hope this message finds each of you well. Most of you in the northern hemisphere
have either just started an academic year, or are in the midst of preparations for
the same. I am falling into the latter camp, and have been busy trying to schedule
tutorials, marking resit exams, etc. etc., in a building that has been undergoing
extensive renovation (Dust City!).
I know that many of you are at least as busy, so I would be all the more grateful if
you could give a thought to the following. Our list has been very lucky in being
accorded not one but TWO sessions at Kalamazoo 1999; this follows the success of our
round table this past May. The two session titles are:
Burial: Theory and Practice
Sanctity: Theory and Practice
These titles were put forth to the Congress organizers following discussions we had
on the list on this very matter; in fact, at the time (early May), we were having
quite an active and illuminating discussion on burial. Bluntly put, I have been
underwhelmed with abstracts, and earnestly beseech you to give some careful thought
to taking part. Please do write directly to me with your ideas on either of these
topics, and help our little electronic community continue its presence at Kalamazoo.
Also, if you are interested in giving a paper in a session dealing with ...
The Popular in Medieval and Renaissance Italy
please let me know as soon as possible.
Many thanks, and best wishes,
George
PS: Of course, please encourage colleagues to participate; thanks!
