The most recent issue of _Time_ magazine has an article suggesting that Clinton
will not resign because his mother taught him to be a fighter that never quits.
I'm afraid that such evaluations tend to "blame the mother". Bill got himself
into this one--and the majority of American males seem to fault him more for
being so stupid that he got caught and lied about it, than the fact that he had
sex mith Monica Lewinsky
There may be some reasons linked to his childhood for the affair (perhaps his
loss was his father rather than his mother---or his alcoholic stepfather?).
But, blaming the women in his life seems like an easy out.
Another issue interests me. In the U.S. there is a lot of discussion about how
the explicit details of the Starr Report or the President's video testimony
might harm children. Is there any worry about this outside of the U.S.? Just
curious.
