ASSISTANT LECTURER IN GEOGRAPHY
ONE YEAR FULL-TIME CONTRACT APPOINTMENT
Mary Immaculate College, which has a formal academic linkage with the
University of Limerick, offers two undergraduate degree programmes, B.A.
in Liberal Arts and B.Ed. for Primary Teaching, as well as a range of
both taught and research-based postgraduate degrees. We expect to
register 1700 students this year.
The Geography Department provides a full complement of course modules to
degree-level for both B.A. and B.Ed. students, and in addition offers
the degree of M.A. by research. We expect to have about 350 students
taking Geography this year.
Applications are now invited for a one year full-time post as Assistant
Lecturer in Geography from candidates holding a research-based
postgraduate degree, preferably at doctoral level.
Applicants should have expertise in the general area of geographical
techniques, including survey methods, statistical methods, automated
cartography and geographical information systems. Teaching experience in
one or more of the following areas would be an advantage:
* political geography
* social geography
* biogeography
* cultural geography
As well as the delivery of formal lecture courses, the appointee will be
expected to undertake practical work, and to participate fully in the
Department's fieldwork programme.
