Chris, thanks for your kind comments on my letter. Of course I intended to
say "consciousnes" instead of "conscience", quoting the well-known phrase
about Joyce's literaty style, but in Spanish you may use the same word for
the two meanings (a very usual situation that makes translation a hard
job!). I've heard that translators call this danger of believing that two
words with the same linguistic origin and structure have also the same
meaning, a "false friend".
