Related to the very good question regarding teams playing in
colors that are not national-flag colors (although the Dutch orange is
easily explicable), I wonder about the former (and now obsolete) system of
coloring racing cars, in which each nation was assigned a color, which in
nearly every case was not that of its flag: British green, German white,
USA yellow (I thing). Is all of this so that the national flag can make a
nice contrast against a different color?
What a heartbreaking result.
