| Agreed. It was a standard part of the questions asked of witnesses in canonization
| processes, that the person had to discuss how well known the candidate for sanctity
| (or his/her miracles and good works) was.
|
| The person who could shed much light on this would be fellow list member Michael
| Goodich -- are you reading this, Michael? Can you refer us to any of your books or
| articles?
|
May I insert my limited 2pence here before Michaal pronounces? There
is a wonderful case study put together by CH Lawrence in his new
(well kind of) biography of Edmund of Abingdon. He provides a
translation of the canonisation dossier that was recorded by Matthew
Paris. There is a good discussion to go along with it:
Larwence, CH. _The Life of St Edmund by Matthew Paris_. Oxford: Alan
Sutton, 1996.
Cheers
Jim
