Tom,
Have found that a bibliographic database offers you a tremendous facility,
and in this context, have found a product called EndNote to be the best.
You can enter and manipulate your refs as you want, can order, sort and
search them as you see fit, and when it comes to writing an article, it is
a tremendous help in that it will compile the bibliography for you, in the
format that a particular publisher wants. If (heaven forbid) the article
gets a rejection, and the next publisher you want to send it to uses a
different reference system, EndNote will take care of that too.
If you want, there is an add on called EndLink which will enable you to get
data from an online / CD database & drop the selected references into your
list.
I am not paid by the publisher (though it might sound like it), but a
genuinely worthwhile product.
Don't know who the contact is in your part of Europe, but try contacting
Niles & Associates in the USA (E Mail: [log in to unmask])
Hope this is of some help
