A query from a colleague (and my apologies for cross-posting):
In Abelard's logica we read the following:
"Nota quod hoc loco Boethius ablativum qui a nullo regitur, sive absolutus
sit sive resolutus, septimum casum vocat, facit itaque duos casus de
ablative duas <scilicet> positiones eius in constructione."
My colleague wants to know whether Boethius was alone in recognizing this
"seventh case." He cannot find another reference to it, and I never
encountered it before. Many thanks.
