Biblical usage of the term seems to be in places
>where the translator or author sought to evoke a sense of dread (LXX Gen.
>3:24, LXX 1 Ki 17:51, Rev.).
>
>Phil Feller

>Thank you so much, Phil. I hadn't thought to check the LXX, but you are
quite right, it does use the word at Gen. 3:24, which is exactly the
allusion I thought Adam might be making. Adam gets behind the Vulgate
'Gladium' to the Greek.
Is not this rather remarkable? Was there a gloss giving the Greek word?
Anybody know?
Oriens.
