Dear Phil,
the French version is indeed a translation of the German, but note that it is a
translation of the FIRST German edition. The second one -- and I don't know how
different it may be from the first -- has not been translated, as far as I know.
The second edition's details are as follows:
AUTHOR: Ritzer, Korbinian.
TITLE: Formen, Riten und religioses Brauchtum der Eheschliessung in den
christlichen Kirchen des ersten Jahrtausends / Korbinian
Ritzer.
EDITION: 2., verb. und erg. Aufl. / bearbeitet von Ulrich Hermann und
Willibrord Heckenbach.
PUB. INFO: Munster : Aschendorff, 1981, c1962.
DESCRIPTION: xliii, 396 p. ; 23 cm.
SERIES: Liturgiewissenschaftliche Quellen und Forschungen,, ISSN 0076
-0048 ; Bd.38

Bibliography: p. [xix]-xliii.

And you're right to be grateful, Phil, for James Brundage's ready assistance;
we've all (certainly I have!) profited greatly from his generous advice.
