Dear Denys,
What kind of dissertation do you mean? A B.A. final, an M.A. or a
Ph.D. thesis? The bibliography on medieval apocalypses is just vast,
so if your student is not thinking of a Ph.D. (as I assume) I would
probably look for a single text. It would probably also mean that
this text should be available in translation. If, on the other hand,
she wants to go into postgraduate research, something in the line of
textual criticism and editing would be most welcome. There are still
quite a number of texts (by Giacomo da Fiore, for example) that lack
modern editions. As the work done by Richard Landes and others shows,
this is probably the best approach for new insights.
Just my pennyworth.
Cheers, Christoph
