The Nature of the small screen: approaching popular constructions of nature
*The papers and workshops are based around the themes ‘ways
of investigating and ways of conceptualising’ and the
difference that social and cultural concerns can make to
human geographical research.
*Several interactive workshops (to be run simultaneously)
will be also offered by recent final year postgraduates on
a variety of topics and will include reflections upon
experiences of the PhD process. Workshop convenors are
Duncan Fuller (Hull), Hayden Lorimer (Birmingham), Kate
Bennet (Durham) and Judith Watterson (Lampeter).
Cost: FREE! No accommodation is being offered, but
conference delegates are encouraged to make informal
arrangements for staying in London if required.

The SCGRG are also offering several travel bursaries for
postgraduates who live some distance away from London and
for those who have particular financial hardships. To
qualify for this please submit a letter (including details
of PhD and other funding sources) to Hester Parr by March
1st, 1998. A collective decision will be made by the
committee and those gaining assistance will be informed in
writing.
