I pass on to members details of the latest volume in Accordia's Specialist
Studies on Italy series.
GENDER AND ITALIAN ARCHAEOLOGY: challenging the stereotypes
Edited by Ruth D. Whitehouse
Joint Publication of the Accordia Research Institute, University of London
and the Institute of Archaeology, University College London
This volume arises from a one-day seminar of the same title held at the
Institute of Archaeology, UCL on 26th May 1995. The aim of the seminar was
to give a 'kick-start' to the study of gender archaeology in Italy, where
the recent rapid development of this Şeld has so far had little impact. The
papers published here reşect that original programme, including articles on
theoretical and methodological issues, as well as case studies adopting a
wide range of approaches and theoretical stances. Most of the papers relate
to Italian pre- and protohistory; however, the volume offers food for
thought to archaeologists of all periods and makes an important
contribution to the development of gender archaeology in Italy.
