The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) is a
non-departmental public body responsible for allocating nearly
£4
billion each year to universities and colleges in England in
support of
teaching and research.
Applications are invited for the above newly created posts
within the
Analytical Services Group.
The successful applicants will collaborate with national bodies
representing the interests of institutions, Government, and the
wider
public in order to devise and evaluate appropriate performance
indicators for universities and colleges and conduct research
into how
socio-economic factors affect student entry and experience in
higher
education. It is expected that this work will lead to the
publication of
indicators and research reports that will inform and influence
the
continuing development of higher education in England.
Applicants should have at least a good first degree with a
significant
mathematical content and possess an aptitude for quantitative
analysis
and statistical programming. Experience of SAS and other
relevant
software would be desirable but not essential as full training
will be
provided. Applicants for the senior post should have at least
five years
relevant experience as they will be responsible for part of the
management of this project.
