Arthritis Research Campaign Epidemiology Unit
Post-doctoral Research Associate (Non-clinical)

The Arthritis Research Campaign (ARC) Epidemiology Unit is seeking a
research associate to co-ordinate a series of studies on the aetiology
of regional and widespread chronic pain syndromes. Innovative
population-based studies will be conducted in a variety of ethnic
groups resident in the United Kingdom and, potentially, in their
country of origin with the aim of determining the role of mechanical
and psychological factors in the aetiology of musculoskeletal pain.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day
management and supervision of these studies and the research team
involved in their conduct.
Candidates are expected to have a PhD in Epidemiology and will ideally
have evidence of success in conducting field studies, numerical
skills, experience of data analysis, and publications arising from
previous work. Experience of conducting studies within one or more
ethnic groups or in musculoskeletal disease would be advantageous but
not essential.
The appointment will be for three years and salary will be on the
scale £15735-£23651 depending on experience and qualifications.
