Hi,
I've noticed in the last week or so that a number of 'inappropriate'
messages have been sent to Allstat, so I thought a quick reminder of
what is and isn't acceptable is called for. Allstat is intended as
a means to broadcast announcements such as forthcoming conferences
and workshops to the statistical community. Queries are welcome, but
Allstat is not intended as a discussion list and replies to queries
should always be sent to the person who mailed the query rather than
to the list. When posting queries you should consider whether
Allstat is the correct list for such a query, Allstat is not intended
to provide free consultancy or to help students with their homework.
If you're unsure whether your posting is appropriate then please read
the FAQ and introduction that you were sent when you joined Allstat,
if that doesn't answer your questions then feel free to contact me at

after all, that's what I'm here for!
One last point, messages should be sent as plain text, as HTML code
and attachments can cause problems with the mail programs used by
some members.
Cheers,
Matt
