Dear all
Just a brief note of reassurance regarding WIGS' commitment
to European Studies as well as German. We will, of course,
keep this in mind, esp as the 1996 precedent and anecdotal
evidence regarding departments' plans for 2001 suggest that
German Studies in most new and in a growing number of
non-new universities are submitting to European Studies.
The difficulty with European Studies is the complex
combination of disciplines and interdisciplinary
specialisms under scrutiny. My guess is that 'German` with
all its facets can hardly get an allocation of more than 2
panel members. But we'll try our best.
