Grove Dictionary of Art Online

CHEST is in negotiation with Macmillan with regard to providing access
to
the Grove Dictionary of Art Online for a fixed annual sum for a period
of 5
years.  This would include in a basic package:

        1. Guaranteed access to www.groveart.com/ groveart.co.uk for
        1-5 concurrent users.

        2. Upgrades to technical specification and functionality
        enhancements to the basic site.

        3. Access to all text updates including new articles, revisions
        and additions to existing articles, bibliographical updates,
        new cross reference/index coding.

        4. Access to all Macmillan copyright images - line drawings,
        maps, family trees and chronologies.

        5. Access to image links at external sites freely available on
        the internet; added to, vetted and maintained by the Grove
        editorial team - to date there are 8-10,000 links.

        6. Free access to the Bridgeman Art Library image database - a
        sophisticated searchable database of up to 100,000 images. The
        database will be available from Spring 1999 starting with
        30,000 images and increasing to over 100,000 by the end of
        1999. The Bridgeman Art library represent over 750 museums and
        other art collections worldwide and offers the most
        comprehensive and wide ranging resource available online.
        Macmillan will be developing a watermark free site with the
        Bridgeman for exclusive use by our subscibers. Fully searchable
        and with links into the Grove database it is an excellent
        accompaniment to The Grove Dictionary of Art Online.

You are invited to visit the Macmillan stand (number 277) at Online
Information 98 at the National Hall & Olympia 2 in London between
Tuesday
8th and Thursday 10th December to see a demonstration of the Dictionary
of
Art Online. Those not attending Online can have a free trial of the
site at www.groveart.com.
