----------------------------------------------------------
We'd like to invite you to have a look at the new revised
and expanded web site of the CTI (Computers in Teaching
Initiative), a network of 24 subject-based Centres
working to support the use of communication and information
technologies in UK higher education.
The CTI Web site (http://www.cti.ac.uk/) has been
undergoing some major changes over the past few months.
The resources section (http://www.cti.ac.uk/links/) has
been completely rewritten to include extensive sections of
teaching and learning resources such as projects, software,
articles and case studies, sources for advice, training and
support, and information on special topics such as lifelong
learning, the CTI/TLTSN Review and the Dearing Report. All
resources are annotated and can be accessed either by
subject or in our index of resources, which lists all the
material on the site in alphabetical order. We also have
implemented a search engine, which can be used to search
either the whole of the site or selected sections.
We have also put together a 'Getting started' page
(http://www.cti.ac.uk/starters.html) to help those who are
new to learning technologies get the most out of the CTI
web site. It includes some introductory information as well
as links to the 24 CTI subject centres, the popular
introduction to the CTI Handbook, "What is C&IT?", staff
development and training resources, and Active Learning,
the refereed journal of the CTI.
Another major development has been CTI News Online,
featuring headlines, features, events and announcements
about C&IT developments for teaching and learning in the
tertiary sector. News Online is updated weekly, and
includes in-depth feature articles on current issues. If
you have events or announcements which might be of interest
to those interested in technology in teaching and learning
in UK higher education, please feel free to send them to us
at [log in to unmask]
The CTI web site also has a newly designed home page, and
all the graphical headers have been reworked to reflect the
new look. In addition, full-text articles for all
back issues of Active Learning as well as tables of
contents for all back issues of the CTISS File (contents
for issues 1-8 were previously unavailable) are now
available online.
We'd like to hear your comments on the new site - please
fill out the online comment form at
