Actually, the social structure or network in which people (or any agents/actors
whether they are webbots, robots, etc.) are embedded
is only fixed in the short run. We can think of it as co-evolving with
culture and individuals' and groups' cognitions (albeit at a slower rate
than people learn). Software can track this co-evolution and ultimately
intelligent software should be able to co-evolve with it. Indeed that is
the focus of much of the work I see happening.
