Making it better is a one-day workshop on high quality, evidence-based
patient information being hosted by the Centre for Health Information
Quality.

TARGET AUDIENCE

 A Workshop for people and groups whose activities include producing
and/or supplying patient information whether in the NHS, voluntary
sector or industry.

VENUE

The Oxford Centre, Banbury Road, Oxford.


DATE

Wednesday May 12, 1999.


COSTS

Commercial organisations £100.00 per head
Statutory organisations - £75.00 per head
CHCs & voluntary organisations £50.00 per head
Workshop presenters (maximum of 2 people per workshop) £50.00 per head


OUTLINE PROGRAMME

The workshop will run from 10.00 am - 4.30 pm.  The main focus will be
on mini-workshops and posters.  There will be the opportunity to attend
at least 3 mini-workshops during the day.  Offers to run mini-workshops
are urgently required.  Some suggested topics are as follows:

Working with health professionals from the voluntary sector perspective;

The experience of health professionals in disseminating information;
King’s Fund MICE Project;
The value of information;
Making patient information happen in your Trust;
Using other assessment tools e.g. Flesch, Splash;
Consumer involvement;
Quality on the Internet;
Getting involved in the centre and its work
Working with the Pharmaceutical Industry
Communicating risk;
Using DISCERN
The evidence base;
Troubleshooting communication.


HOW TO CONTRIBUTE

If you would like to offer a mini-workshop on the above or any other
topic which is relevant to quality in health information, or would like
to offer a poster, please complete and return the  form below, if
possible, by 11 January 1999

A booking form for the workshop will be circulated in the New Year with
a detailed list of the mini-workshops.
