Dear colleagues:
I would be indebted to anyone who could provide me with directions to the
nearest "clearinghouse" of population-based health information system
software or vendors. Its seems like a practice in futility to find
anything substantial, short of testiments about one or two applications in
successful use. Does anyone know of or is using a reasonably user
friendly (window-based) Public Health information system such as Systems
Team (UK), or the BC CDC PHIS (CDN) which seems to address the
following sample needs:
immunization registry functions with linkage to dynamic client registry;
communicable disease case management/contact tracing program with a
high level of automation (eg., report writing, descriptive epi
functions, etc.) that can also aggregate an link at a regional or
higher level of governance;
environmental health tracking and outbreak management/exposure assessment
functions with or without a GIS mapping function;
well child clinical record keeping linked to other Public Health
functions;
breast or cervical or neonatal screening registries, etc, etc...
I am not looking for a community care/home care personal health service
record system. I am trying to find a system that can address
epidemiologic and population health issues in real time as part of the day
to day business of a Public Health sector in a Regional health care
system, as opposed to doing one of a kind research.
Thank you in advance for any contacts.
Sincerely,
Rudy Zimmer
