The Mining Institute of Scotland was incorporated within the Institution
of Mining Engineers (IMinE). The IMinE had a federated structure that
was a consequence of the enveloping of a number of regional coal mining
institutions.
The merged with the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy this year. The
IMM (as was the IMinE) is a constituent of the Engineering Council and
has a web site.
I hope this helps
