I have been asked for a 'case study' on the use of Mailbase by the
mining-history community.
It is early days yet as far as the mining-history list is concerned - we
have only been in operation for six months and have yet to bring in many of
those with an academic interest in mining.
What mailbase are looking for is:
- details of what your list is used for. This could include examples of
discussions and how the list has supported teaching and/or research
- quotes from members saying what they like about the list and/or
Mailbase!
- if appropriate, pictures relevant to the subject matter of the list. They
provide an example from the eyepathology list which has gifs of Conjunctival
Goblet Cell Hyperplasia - however, attachment of large graphic format files
to list messages can cause problems but if members have pictures as subjects
for discussion I can post them to the list web pages for members to view.
A positive response from list members would be appreciated. Mailbase is
fighting a continuing battle for funding to provide the list service and
good reactions from those in higher education particularly strengthens their
case. Members should, however, be aware that their quotes may be used in
publicity material that will widely distributed.
Send your comments to the list or to me <[log in to unmask]> for
onward transmission to Mailbase.
Peter
