Has anyone else tried Infoseek Express that was announced the other day?
I found it easy to install - the 10 minutes or so it warned it might take to
download was about a minute with my direct connection to SuperJANET. An icon
sits on the Location line in Netscape (to discourage users from trying anything
else?) and loads quickly. There are many types of metasearch - the usual group
of general services, excluding Northern Light; newsgroups; email addresses;
yellow pages etc. I tried the general search, but a cursory look didn't
suggest any improvement on Metacrawler or Mamma and possibly not on Northern
Light.
I'm not really sure what is happening technically, so do wonder a bit if it is
doing anything untoward to files on my machine. (Oh, I forgot - its not a
Microsoft product!) Howver, I was a little concerned when I logged onto the
network this morning and got a window with a message telling me there was an
upgrade available (already).
Anyone given it a more systematic examination?
