Dear List Member
Usage statistics is a popular topic in the field of library management at
the moment. There has been a recent discussion on the subject on the Library
Link discussion forum at http://www.mcb.co.uk/liblink/discussion.html
The original questions were posted by Gillian Crawford at the forum and
received numerous comments. You can go there to read the summary, a bit of
which I have included below for your interest:
"We can all agree that Usage Statistics are a hot topic and are definitely
needed by managers of electronic information. - Particularly in this period
of a two horse race in terms of paper and electronics, and proactively
managing the use of electronics. However, these statistics will only be
useful if they are provided in an easily accessible and readable format -
and measured in the same way by all information providers."
Thank you
