The Conference aims to promote further improvements in medical education
in the UK by disseminating good practice and generating new ideas.
'Life-Long Learning in the New NHS is the foundation of continuing
professional development for all involved in the delivery of education
and training. It sets in place the necessary approach for clinical
governance by which everyone now expects patient care to be assured. The
organisations involved in this Conference are uniquely placed to ensure
this process by virtue of their close inter-relationship int he
facilitation and delivery of postgraduate medical and dental education.'
CALL FOR POSTERS, SKILLS DEMONSTRATIONS AND "EDUCATIONAL SURGERIES"
Throughout the middle of the day on Thursday, (15th) there will be an
EDUCATIONAL BAZAAR WITH CYBER CAFE. The intention is to provide an
informal multi-professional event in which delegates can interact and
discuss issues of common interest.
CALL FOR WORKSHOPS
Two 90 minute workshop sessions will be timetabled into the programme on
Thursday (15th). The intention is to run the same workshops at both
sessions but single workshop sessions can also be considered. We are
particularly keen to attract innovative examples of collaborative
practice and educational methods from the full spectrum of all PMDE
activities.
CALL FOR PAPERS
Part of Friday morning (16th) will be devoted to several 10-minute
presentations of short papers outlining author's research findings. We
are keen to select innovative examples of good practice, new educational
strategies, assessment and appraisal issues, teaching doctors how to
teach etc. but will be happy to consider other relevant areas.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
Venue: The National Motorcycle Museum - excellent air-conditioned
facilities. Conveniently situated off junction 6 of the M42. Very close
to International Railway Station and Birmingham International Airport.
On-site car parking. Also very close to conference hotels. Short coach
transfers will be provided.
Accommodation: Main conference hotel is 5-star Stakis Metropole with
superb facilities. Conference Dinner will be held there on Thursday
(15th). Rooms also available at the local Travelodge.
Accompanying Persons: full programme of events planned including visits
to the Black Country Living Museum, Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-
Avon.
