Who would disagree that we should all be lifelong learners?

As professionals, shouldn't we all be continuously developing?

The trouble is, its not easy, as anyone who has tried has found out, and
this participative workshop accepts that getting better at what we do is
a difficult process, and gives you a chance to explore the most
personally significant issues that will determine just how good you can
be.

Target more accurately your limited time and effort to meeting these
needs.

How will this workshop help you?

For perhaps the first time, you will be given the time and space,
amongst others with the same interest, to raise and work upon issues
that will help you put some structure to genuinely managing you own
development.

Apply what you learn during the day and you will be able to:

*	Identify specifically your priority development  needs.
*	Target more accurately limited time money and effort to meeting
these needs.
*	Turn your development into a more planned, conscious, less
haphazard, accidental process.
*	Make good use of a better understanding of how you team.
*	Take control of your professional development, lessening
dependence on others.

In advance of the workshop

In order to get the most from the day you will need to find an hour
before we meet to complete two warm up activities.

9:45	Your personal and professional development:
	Key past learning, currently priority needs and future plans.
	How do you learn best?
	Selected models and frameworks that help provide insight and 
	structure.
11:00	Break - well deserved 
11:15	Practical approaches to CPD and lifelong learning.
	The four big problems with training-based development, and why 
	learning holds the key.
	Why is managing our own development such a problem for so
	many?
	Lots of questions, and maybe even some answers.
1:00	Lunch
2:00	How to become and remain a lifelong learner.
	What learning opportunities from your work and indeed life?
	From whom and from what can your learn?
	What barriers and obstacles need to be worked through?
3:00	Break
3:15	Learning as a skilled process
	The nine key learning skills 
	Young children as our mentors?
4:15	Review of the day and what has been learned.
4:30	End of day....but hopefully the beginning of something else.

Workshop leader

Andrew Gibbons is an independent trainer who really is a lifelong
learner - for instance he has kept a learning log since February 1987.
