The cat and class course - it's OK for anyone!
6/7 October, LAHQ, London
OK or organisation of knowledge is central to the effective function of
any function of any information service.
The established skills developed within librarianship provide both
effective systems for this process, but also provide the conceptual
tools for developing and tailoring in house approaches appropriate for
your organisation.
How will this event help you by:
* Providing a basic introduction to the skills of information
organisation in the context of library and information services.
* Providing a broad based framework built from principals and
practice that you can then take away and develop in your own
organisational context.
* Developing your understanding of the major international
standards which are used for knowledge organisations in libraries, these
include the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, the Dewey Decimal
Classification, the MARC format for computerised cataloguing and formats
like thesaurus.
Who will benefit from attending?
It is for the information worker who is new to this area or who has not
