I would be very pleased to hear from anyone who uses Dewey to classify
books dealing with the history/archaeology of changing
landscapes/environments. I'm not even sure how to describe them, let
alone what place(s) in the sequence they might best be put...so here
are brief details of some examples:
Goudie, Environmental Change
Goudie, The Earth Transformed:an introduction to the Human Impacts on
the Environment
Bell, Late Quartenary Environmental Change:Physical and Human
Perspectives
Chambers, Climate Change and Human Impacts on the Landscape
and related to these:
Simmons, Environment of British Prehistory
Reed, Landscape of Britain
My problem with classifying them is that they appear to:
-they mix earth Sciences/Geography/Archaeology/History/Cultural
Studies
-cover landscapes impact on man and mans on the landscape
-wide timescales
Any thoughts/suggestions/examples of the classification of these books
in other libraries gratefullly received.
