- I'll do anything that doesn't involve physical pain to make up for the
cross-posting -

Knowledge Management conferences normally cost in the region of four
figures. This one doesn't. And it's not just about Knowledge Management,
it's about increasing our value to our organisations in very practical
ways. There's so much in it, we got stuck for a name, so we called it
the 'Vision' Conference.

5 & 6 November Palace Hotel, Buxton; now here's the blurb:

'Vision 98' is an opportunity to discover the wider range of thinking
about what the 'Information Age' really means: not just from LIS
professionals, but from other information 'stakeholders' - in the media,
knowledge management, information technology, wherever this Information
Age is being shaped. But a vision is meaningless unless you can turn it
into action which takes your service forward. 'Vision' workshop leaders
have a range of expertise: from the development of new information
products and services in bottom-line driven organisations,
state-of-the-art techniques in optimising your impact on your
organisation, or increasing your influence in a time of rapid change.

A change of view: Professor Peter Underwood - University of Capetown
The workshop will focus on the information professional as internal
consultant, working within an organisation to foster development. A
case study will be used to develop a clearer understanding of the
ethical issues associated with such interventions and to encourage
comment on appropriate and inappropriate styles. The contribution of
soft systems analysis towards assisting the internal consultant will
also be considered.

NLP for Business - Sue Knight, Sue Knight Associates
This session will give some insight into ways to present yourself such
that you maximise the chances that others fully understand and are
influenced by who you are and what you say. You will get some feedback
on your personal style and how you can develop that to build and
maintain rapport with the people with whom you have contact.

Building Confidence - Cheri Concannon
'Confidence' who needs it? You'll walk away from this course feeling
self assured, motivated, exhilarated.....and with a sack full of apples.

Roles and Responsibilities - Claudine Arnold and Jane Scott, Spark
Knowledge
This workshop will help you reposition yourself in your organisations
using practical tools to help shift attitudes.

Influencing Skills - Caroline Barnet, LEVELheaded Training
This workshop will look at different ways we can use skills to influence
other people. It will focus on building individual confidence so we can
use our skills to develop a win/win outcome.
