Information Specialist: Cultural Studies, Learning Centre, Sheffield Hallam
University.
Salary: up to 28516 pounds sterling
Closing date: 24 April 1998
We have an exciting opportunity for an Information Specialist to join the
Learning Centre, with responsibility for the provision of information
services to the School of Cultural Studies, and for the management of
services at the Psalter Lane Campus.
The Learning Centre department brings together a range of services to
support the University's programme of teaching and learning, research and
consultancy: library and information services, open access IT provision,
media production facilities and the University+s Learning and Teaching
Institute.
The Information Specialist will need to take a proactive approach in
collaborating with academic staff in the development of teaching
programmes, stock selection, user education and information work with
students. Candidates should have a degree, preferably in a relevant
subject, and be qualified librarians or information officers. Experience
of working in academic libraries, and of managing staff and other resources
is essential, along with experience of information sources in one or more
of the following areas: art and design, film and media, literature,
history, and communication studies. An understanding of issues arising
from the integration of IT and information services, and of contemporary
issues in teaching and learning is crucial.
