Cambridge Scientific Abstracts signs deal with EDINA for UK Higher Education
EDINBURGH, UK and BETHESDA, MD (June 1). Cambridge Scientific Abstracts
(CSA) and EDINA are pleased to announce that CSA's Environmental Sciences
& Pollution Abstracts Database will be available to the EDINA user
community in UK higher education.
The Environmental Sciences & Pollution Management Database provides
unparalleled coverage of the environmental sciences. This unique,
multi-disciplinary database provides abstracts and references to the
literature covering all areas of air, land, water, and noise pollution as
well as bacteriology, ecology, toxicology, risk assessment, environmental
engineering, environmental biotechnology, waste management, and water
resources. Environmental policy and regulations are given significant
coverage, as are U.S. environmental impact statements. The database will
be made available through a link to CSA's awarding winning Internet
Database Service on its European mirror site.
EDINA is a JISC-funded UK national datacentre, based at Edinburgh
University Data Library. It offers the UK higher education and research
community networked access to a range of data, information and research
resources across a wide range of academic disciplines; this includes
specialist datasets in the environmental and life sciences as part of its
portfolio of bibliographic and research data. 130 UK institutions of
higher education currently subscribe to one or more of EDINA's services.
Mark Furneaux, CSA Managing Director of European Operations commented
that "this agreement significantly enhances the availability of
environmental information to the UK academic community. UK students will
now have ready access to bibliographic information about the environment,
combined with a wide range of quality web sites from the Web Resources
Database." Peter Burnhill, Director of EDINA, welcomed the agreement
saying "it is a good illustration of EDINA's strategy to deliver
specialist information to the academic community."
Several seminars and workshops are currently being arranged to introduce
potential users to the Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management
Database. Free trials are also available.
