(The announcement reached me as a word 6.0 file in the body
of the email, not sent as an attachment. I haven't yet
forwarded it to my aol account to download (that's
much faster than trying to use this dial-up system,
and files are less likely to be corrupted.)
I sympathize with the people who complained. I can't
always handle attachments using Pine -- which is
pretty widely used -- and as this wasn't an attachment
anyway, I would suggest using plain text.
Plain text _usually_ overcomes the various problems
involved in transmitting documents here are there
to people with different systems.
FYI, I don't use Word, but I can handle it at home,
where I am now. In the Dept, I might have a problem.
This is not a flame and not to be taken as such.
