My introduction to Keston Sutherland at SVP on 22 9 98 was fairly brief to
say the least and I am going to edit that.
I said: "I don't really know much about Keston Sutherland! I saw him on the
web, posting comments and poems on the British and Irish poets list, and I
had his book At The Motel Partial Opportunity - it seemed to me that he is
the kind of poet sub voicive poetry is looking for. So here he is!"
All I said after that was a pointer towards some of his publications in
pamphlet and the web
What I would like is for others to do some of the intros. Some I want to do,
but not all of them; and variety is useful.
Just saying what the poets' publications are isn't it. I can do that. I
would like something more. I am not looking for in depth appraisals. There
isn't time. Seems to me that what is wanted is factual info - main
publications should be included - and *positive things in the poet's work -
why should I listen to this? what should I listen for?... once one gets into
that it is possible to find there is a lot, too much to say; I find it hard
to judge sometimes; but one doesn't want to tire the audience out! or take
talk time...
If anyone can help out, email backchannel please. It needs to be positive
remember and someone the poet will be happy with... I'd rather not give you
free admission but I will say thank you
