In West Coast Line #24 where this work appeared in 1990 Peter's hunch is
confirmed, the editor attributes the even sections to Tony Baker. And
the other comments about the piece are spot-on. I have seen several
other Western avant-garde rengas & some manage the spirit in delightful
ways, while some seem an excuse to be exotically domestic. Or something
like that. Altogether now let's jump on that phrase "exotically
domestic" & see why I would use it pejoratively. I don't know.
