STAND is looking for a new editor for next year with a committed and
informed interest in
contemporary writing to take editorial responsibility for the magazine.

Stand Magazine is an independent quarterly of new writing founded in 1952 by
the poet Jon Silkin
(1930-1997). It is edited by short story writer Lorna Tracy, the poet Rodney
Pybus, and associate
editor Peter Bennet. Overseas editors include: Michael Wilding (Australia),
Peter Robinson
(Canada), David Latané (USA). Stand is an international magazine of poetry,
short fiction, reviews,
criticism and occasional short plays. Stand Magazine Ltd. is a
non-profit-making company registered
with the Charity Commission in the U.K. Stand was once supported in part by
Northern Arts, but
now depends entirely on private patrons and a firm subscription list.
Northern House, associate with
Stand Magazine, publishes poetry pamphlets and books -- by Geoffrey Hill,
Tony Harrison,
Michael Hamburger, Ken Smith, Roy Fisher, Sorley Maclean, Hans Magnus
Enzensberger, Ian
Crichton Smith, Rodney Pybus, Jon Glover, Daniel Weissbort, Robert Ober and
