of belief. cris is right, it seems easier to misread emails than other
forms. In this case, the playfulness and irony was missed because the
context was removed. So I need to learn that on email, you either get burnt
or you provide as much context as possible.

Exactly, this is why I placed that "telling" phrase "Or are they?" after
