Snakeskin is three years old today. Someone suggested recently that we're
the only monthly poetry zine to have kept up regular publication for so long
a time. In short, I reckon that now we must officially be considered an
institution, nay a National Treasure. International Treasure, come to think
of it,
since our poets come from just about all over.
This month's issue, as well as the usual array of goodies, contains a new
publishing enture - the first Snakeskin e-chapbook. "For a Poet's
Wunderkammer" by L. Fullington is a sampler of this excellent poet's recent
work (and it reads even more impressively in bulk).
The idea is that the reader downloads the file, and can print off a
booklet. Tell me if it's a good idea. Tell me if there are any technical
hiccups (There usually are when we try something new).
We also introduce Barry Spacks's "Bumpers", the 84-letter form
that he claims as the first electronic poetic form. Linda Crespi might
dispute this. She writes DHTML poetry, which looms and lunges on your
screen, provided you're running Internet Explorer. Netscape users may find
her verse a bit static.
There's plenty of other good stuff too.
