Can I add my own enthusings to what Ric said a few
weeks ago about Lee Harwood's new book which I got
on Friday.
The writing has a wonderful transparency of language,
mostly tentative and understated:
'The language of trees, and seas
of winds, plants, and us beasts...
... Listening, waiting, drifting
into that space beyond words.'
(Talking Bab-Ilu)
In Dreams of Armenia his technique reminds me of Tom
Scott's 'The Dirty Business'.
The 'openness' of this poetry invites the reader in to assist
with creating meaning, challenging us, as Doug Oliver said,
'with the floatingest of meaning fields...to respond as fully as
possible'.
A wonderful book.
