Who has been affirming an "absolute hierarchy of value"? Come on,
own up! No-one goes home until we find the culprit!
cris asks all the right questions, questions asked in the 1840s by
Marx/Engels in TGI tho` they were exposing ownership of so-called
"absolute hierarchies of value" by those who owned the means of
production, and thereby re-evaluating each term in the phrase without
foregoing "hierarchy" or "value" or even "hierarchies of value."
Cris would be happy to live in the politics or political economy implied
by an aesthetic which refrains from making value judgments and opinion
formation? A spate of left-leaning liberals seem to be constructing a
model of aesthetic response which is actually akin to autism or being
permanently stoned out of your head, as a weak but "nice" counter to
the right-wing Bring Back "The Beautiful!" campaigners like Roger Scruton
and my supervisor.
