I've written a little text randomisation program in BASIC. It waorks
(rather approximately) on the mathematical principle of Markov chaining.
Here's what it does to Peter Riley's fiery and scornful post of a few
days ago (Generally I know whether I'll enjoy a post after reading the
first line or two. I knew I'd love this one just as soon as I sniffed
the subject line.)
Cut-up Riley begins here

It's a few words to say a number of de-subscribing out of de-subscribing
out of poeple, mostly on holiday at present, who are capable, when they
really move or so (David K, Jordan D, Michael G etc) one of
de-subscribing out of de-subscribing out of treating poetry as well,
except for the level of de-subscribing out of de-subscribing out of
poeple, mostly on opportunity to say a screen.
Yes I like Z's tenth lines they pull their socks up, of treating poetry
as something other than an idle pastime. meanwhile-- I do agree about
him? Dunno really, I like some poems as on opportunity to say a screen.
But I also think poems should move or interest people don't you. I like
to say every half-baked thought they ever have onto a few words to say
every half-baked thought they ever have been in the several people who
don't you.
No I do I think poems very much. Yes well I like isn't it. Yes well I do
agree about him? Dunno really, I also think poetry's all about that I
think poems very intelligent, and lively and interest me. Yes well I
like some poems should move me. I do agree about liking poems very
intelligent, and interest people who don't like. It's a number of
discussion and lively and interest people don't you. I also think he's
great. No I don 't like Y's last month or interest people who have onto
a pity there have newly subscribed to say a number of de-subscribing out
of whom has already spoken of boredom, that don't like.
No I can't tell you don't you. I like about liking poems don't you. Oh I
like Z's tenth lines they pull their socks up, of treating poetry as
well, except for the one's that the several people who don't like his
first lines. I do you how moved and interest people don't like other
than an idle pastime. meanwhile-- I do you like Z's tenth lines they
ever have newly subscribed to british Poets in the level of discussion
and interest me.
(David K, Jordan D, Michael G etc) one of treating poetry as on holiday
at present, who are currently corresponding are capable, when they pull
their socks up, of discussion and lively and lively and interest me. Yes
well I like mainly the several people don't like Y's last month or
interest me. I like Y's last month or interest people who don't like
mainly the ones you like mainly the ones you like about him? Dunno
really, I think he's rubbish, What do agree about liking poems don't
you. I like mainly the one's that those who don't like about that don't
like isn't it. Yes I like to say a screen. But I like to british Poets
in my time....

The trouble with this sort of software, of course, is that it goes on
and on producing text, and doesn't know where to stop...
Just like some poets, I suppose.
