Just to put the record straight, I have absolutely no
objection to poets being paid for readings or anything
else. I was simply suprised at the amount in question,
although in retrospect, it doesn't actually seem that
remarkable. My unjustified snide tone was due to my
being no admirer of the said person's writing.
Anyway, I've been justly punished by the profusion of
mail on the subject.
My vote goes to Ric Caddel in his refutation of 'market
forces' - they've done enough damage in this country
already.
