I have consulted the DfEE about this issue. Their answer is that the
parental cotribution must always be in whole pounds because that is how
the relevant bits of the Awards Regs work (eg 1 pound contribution for
every complete 13.00 pounds of income is the first "slope" on the
contiribution sacale).
Please let me know if the assessments involving pennies become at
all common, and I will ask to DfEE to consider whether they could
issue some advice to LEAs.
