Can anyone tell me if you would expect serum amylase activities (by same
method) to vary from 1000 to 2500U/L (over period of 6months) in patient
with possible macroamylasaemia?
We have 80 year old lady with no clinical evidence of pancreatic or salivary
pathology who has pancreatic isoenzyme activity of 27% in her serum (by
inhibition method). Amylase to creatinine clearance ratio is 0.1%.
Despite this I am concerned whether I can exclude other pathology of lung or
ovary which might produce excessive amounts of salivary amylase.
Many thanks.
