Dear friends,
I am trying to trace the source of a quotation I came across in English
translation from a trecento Italian-Jewish poet called Emmanuel of Rome
(Imanuele Roma or, in some anthologies, Manuello Giudeo). The quotation is
as follows:
What says our music to the gentiles?
Stolen, I was, yes, stolen from the land of the Hebrews.
I would be delighted if anyone can let me have the original Italian and the
general context for these two lines.
Many thanks,
